WYEP FEATURES BROTHER JOHN ON-AIR

Following Aaron Jentzen's favorable review in the Pittsburgh City Paper, Mr. Jentzen proceded to bring on the good tidings via WYEP 91.3 FM in Pittsburgh.

Brother John was featured on "Critics Corner" during the "Morning Mix" this morning.  After a brief biographical discussion, "toy cannons" was played followed by some chat about the song.

NO REST FOR THE SLEEK AND WICKED

There has been a lot going on around TMPS that is not quite ready for prime time just yet.  Builds on the site have been very minimal lately in light of the tremendous work that has been going on behind the scenes.

What is in store?  Several items are in the works, but the one that is going to get some breathing room very soon is the release of an updated and seriously tricked-out version of Breakout.

The previous releases of Brother John's Breakout can still be played right here on this site.  These neoclassics will remain playable, at least for now, given that they are much more friendly to slower computers.

The newest version has more upgrades than can be covered in a news brief.  The core game is completed and details are being ironed out for the method of release.

In the meantime, Brother John is very busy making it just right.  Have patience.  It will be worth it.

NEW REVIEW IN THE CITY PAPER

Brother John's Average gets a new review in the Pittsburgh City Paper!  Aaron Jentzen pens a welcoming review of the album introducing insights into individual tracks as well as the album as a whole.

Mr. Jentzen also acknowledges Tone Matrix Productions Studios as the place where it all happens as well as the Beechfields record label for their noble support of Brother John's music and the Baltimore music community.

BROTHERJOHNMUSIC.COM BREAKS OUT

Games have invaded brotherjohnmusic.com!  The new Arcade Page features several variations of the classic Breakout game.

Brother John spent many hours learning Flash techniques, scouring tutorials and modifying code to assemble these games to include on the website.  Each variation features a different difficulty and play elements as well as custom graphics.

Brother John did not stop there...

To make the games even more compelling, he produced some new audio tracks to set the tone of the games.  There is a "celestia" loop that plays over the "Average" level, four new original arrangements for the others, and one soundless level for faster download times that get the game ready to play more quickly.

The "DuJour" variation is dynamic, so the content changes from time to time.

The "Secret" variation is difficult, but leads to a solution that reveals something...

...you'll have to play to find out.

To access the Arcade Page from the Main Page, click on the mouse.  This has replaced the link to play "beaten," but this song is still available from the Discography Page.

Go play some BREAKOUT!

STRETCH YOUR BRAIN

A brand new section has been added to the brotherjohnmusic.com site, and this one is challenging you to exercise some neurons.

If mathematics interests you at all, then this is the place you want to visit.  The Mathematics page contains a study of combinatorics that Brother John has been fascinated with for many years.  He has worked out an explanation and published his organized research as it currently stands.

The study continues in Brother John's notes and there are many concepts that are complete but unpublished.  This section of the site is intended to be a dynamic exposition as new information is polished and published.

If theoretical math isn't your thing, you still might want to take a glance at the study because beyond the numbers and equations there are myriad fascinating facts and correlations to keep the casual reader thinking.

The Main Page of the site has undergone a few minor alterations to help organize the links for planned content.  A few of the music links have switched to different locations and a few others are gone (oh, no!) but still appear in full on the Discography page.  Rest assured, no content has been deleted from the site.

TWO NEW SITE LAUNCHES

The brotherjohnmusic.com site has just added two entirely new sections of the site!  These are no mere pages of content or features, but complete subsites devoted to two prominent TMPS artists, Azag Thoth and Stink Wrinkle.

The former can be found by clicking on the pack of cigarettes on the Main Page graphic.  The latter links from the ashtray.

Both segments of the site are still undergoing construction on some of the features and elements, but there is still plenty to do and see.  Both have functioning community features, so it would be a good idea to get your two cents in about the development of these sites while it is still being developed!

There is a lot to poke around at now, but be patient and check back often as rich content is added to both new sites as well as in the Brother John areas.  Look for significant updates right here.

FAVICON MADNESS

So many favicons!  The brotherjohnmusic.com site has been invaded by several tiny graphic elements.  Favicons have been added to all of the existing pages that can support them - including those pages that are (still) under construction.

Many browsers support these little graphic snippets.  Some older versions of Explorer will not reveal these small gems.  Sorry older Explorer users.  Newer versions of explorer may show you the favicons in the address bar and/or your favorites list, but it is possible that you will get the static images there.  Netscape users are likely to enjoy the fully-animated favicons in the address bar.  Users of Firefox, Opera and other not-so-widely-used browsers may or may not get the benefit of these amazing little buggers.

How can you tell if they are working?  Look up in the menu bar.  Do you see an animated graphic next to the address?  The one on this page is a "circle 4" that fades to "news" and pulsates like magic.  The static graphic is just the "circle 4" in case the animation is not working for you.  If you don't see it there, you can try to bookmark the page.  The favicon may appear in your favorites list.  You should bookmark several pages from this site.  Seriously.  Favicons or not, you just should.

BLOGGER JOHN ADDS NEW FEATURE

The newest feature to this site is a sister weblog!  Added just today, the blog page features links to all sorts of esoteric web entities that are apt to keep you amused to death for a seeming eternity.

Although it is largely under construction as of today, there is plenty to see and do on the ground floor.  If you are the type who likes to add to your blogroll, then now would be a great time to add this weblog to your list so that any new posts will be ready for you to view as soon as they appear.

The weblog is fueled by WordPress, as made available by the site host, and is, unfortunately, not extremely customizable as far as design.  Brother John has chosen a pretty slick template, though, and the content looks great.

The blog is a great outlet where you can take a peek into the thoughts of Brother John as he posts them.  It is a place where you can get to know him more as a person and, through your responses, he can get to know you as well.

BROTHERJOHNMUSIC.COM LAUNCHES COMMUNITY AND NEWS FEATURES

Brother John's website has added two new features pages to the quickly-growing online experience at brotherjohnmusic.com.

This page, along with the user-participatory community page, is the newest addition to this expanding online experience.  Check this page for updates from Brother John and Tone Matrix Productions Studios.  The community page features forum discussions, visitor surveys,  feedback and a tag wall for spraying your random graffiti for other guests to read.

This website is packed with features that are already available for you to explore.  Visit the discography page and sample the album artwork for an array of TMPS releases and listen to the tracks that have been made available directly on the track lists.  Check back often because more songs are added and made available to you as the site continues to develop.  An archive of collaborations is posted that gives you access to many songs that Brother John has co-produced with some very talented artists.  Many more surprises await discovery from the main page.  Click around to see what is waiting to be discovered.

This site is still under construction and there is a lot of work to be done.  The number of unfinished links is shrinking, though, so be on the lookout for some updated content in the very near future.  In the meantime, enjoy the newest features and enjoy your experience here at brotherjohnmusic.com!
